Our before-and-after school program provides a happy, club-like atmosphere where children are offered enriched learning opportunities in a fun and engaging environment. The rhythm of the program takes into account each school-age child’s desire to form lasting friendships, explore theme-related topics of interest, gain confidence in their independence skills, and experience a balance of learning and fun.
If your school does not open for in-person class, we can help. We offer on-site full-time and part-time schedules to meet the unique needs of your family. And we will help facilitate your child’s elementary school distance and virtual learning. This means your child can attend school virtually at New Horizon Academy with our teachers available to help answer questions.
Each morning you and your school-ager will receive a warm welcome from our teachers. During this time, you will have an opportunity to connect with your school-ager’s teacher to create a smooth transition from home to school.
Your school-ager will engage in meaningful, hands-on activities and exploration projects that encourage thinking skills and help them on their journey to lifelong learning.
Discovery and investigation are key components of the before- and after-school schedule. Our teachers will guide your child in expanding upon their own unique interests, to engage their inquisitive minds. Learn More
In a relaxed and encouraging environment, your school-age child will be provided with homework assistance by our caring and educated teachers.
Our school-age children enjoy a nutritious breakfast and a healthy after-school snack each day, often prepared by themselves, with assistance from our school cook. On school-release days, lunch is included as well.
Jumping, running, playing sports, testing new skills, climbing, and playing group games will be an especially fun part of your school-ager’s day as they enjoy our state-of-the-art playground.
New Horizon Academy is open on many school release days throughout the year. To make those days off of school more fun, school-agers will often go on a field trip or have a special guest visit!
Teachers are positive role models who support the growing needs of school-agers in a comfortable and nurturing atmosphere.
Our comprehensive before- and after-school curriculum complements what children are learning in school and offers a balance of enriching learning opportunities and fun. We even incorporate homework support into the daily routine so you can enjoy family time at home.
Our school-age classrooms are places where children can relax, chat with friends, work on homework, snuggle up with a book, prepare a snack, work on a craft project, or create something unique, all in an environment designed just for them. We offer six activity areas for exploring and learning.
Imagination Station is an area where children can let their imaginations soar through plays, musical productions, and puppet shows.
The Construction Zone includes blocks and woodworking props to encourage building and creating unique designs.
The Creation Station is a showcase area for the artist, architect, and creative mind to develop their interests and abilities.
Digging for fossils, looking through a magnifying glass, or exploring the world of insects, The Lab helps children discover something new at every turn.
Games, Gadgets, and Gizmos is an area where children can challenge themselves or a friend in a game or a “brain teaser.”
The Writer’s Workshop includes activities such as games, puzzles, a writing area, and books to encourage reading and discussions.
While your child is in our before or after school program, you will receive updates through a mobile app which allows our teachers to share information as needed, send messages, and delight you with photos via e-mail. You are also welcome to use it to send your child’s teacher a message.
“My daughter attended the after school program at New Horizon. It was SO convenient for us that they offer this program because it allowed us to have one pick-up location. The teachers were great, and she loved the change of scenery from her school’s program.”
