PLYMOUTH, Minn. – On Monday, January 16, 2017, New Horizon Academy will open its doors to the Lyndale neighborhood of Minneapolis with a brand new, state-of-the-art building located at 105 W. Lake Street.
Teachers will care for and educate more than 150 children ages 6 weeks through 4th grade between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. The school features safe, attractive, and age-appropriate classrooms and playgrounds that are thoughtfully designed to enhance learning through play.
“We believe that every child deserves the best care and early education,” said Chad Dunkley, CEO of New Horizon Academy. “More and more young families are choosing to remain in the city of Minneapolis, so we are thrilled to offer our programs in a neighborhood that is convenient for families and part of a dynamic urban environment.”
New Horizon Academy on West Lake Street is one of two new Minneapolis locations to be opening this winter. “With the help of the new and innovative State Early Learning Scholarships, New Horizon Academy has been able to continue our expansion to serve more families in south Minneapolis,” said Chad Dunkley. The second south Minneapolis location on Hennepin Avenue in Uptown, is scheduled to open in February of this year.
The West Des Moines New Horizon Academy is conveniently located off University Avenue and 92nd Street in West Des Moines, Iowa. We have been serving families in West Des Moines, Clive, Urbandale, Waukee, Adel, and surrounding areas with quality daycare and early education since 2018. Our West Des Moines childcare center offers nationally accredited learning programs for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and pre-kindergarteners. I am originally from California, but now live in Winterset with my boyfriend. I have a B.S. in Early Childhood Education and Leadership, which I earned during my ten years of working in the childcare field before COVID. After COVID, I worked in events and trainings for the, very niche, funeral and transportation industries. I learned a lot but found myself missing the fun and fulfillment that comes with working with children. I’m very much looking forward to getting to know your families!

I’m a foster parent and New Horizon Academy has been a dream to work with! They’ve helped in every way they can and truly love these kids like their own. My 2-year-old foster son was unable to talk when we got him at 17 months. He had a speech evaluation 1 year later and not only is he speaking, but he’s speaking at a 3-4 year-old level now! I can’t say enough great things about New Horizon Academy in West Des Moines! I took my time to carefully select the right center for my 3-year-old, and I’m incredibly particular about who cares for my kids. I visited several other centers but didn’t connect with the staff and their curriculum seemed sub-par. Our experience at New Horizon Academy has been nothing but awesome and we LOVE the teachers! My daughter is thriving, she’s learning so much, she’s happy, and she really looks forward to going to school each day!
